Aim. Is to qualify Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs) as Exercise Planning and Conducting Officers for Cadet Force exercises using Blank Ammunition and Pyrotechnics.
Qualification. Successful completion of the course awards the SA (M)(07)Cadet qualification. It also gives ACF SIs eligibility for promotion to SSI and CCF Officers eligibility for promotion from Lt to Capt.
Course Outline. The course is 5 days long and concentrates on planning considerations to conduct blank firing exercises. Students will receive instruction on all safety requirements, publications and administration, and are required to produce an EAM and an EASP for two separate battle exercises, which they will then run during the course.
Eligibility. Candidates must have attended the Adult Induction Course (AIC) or CCF Basic (Qualifying) course or have been exempted due to previous Regular or Reserve service.
Pre-Requisites. The following pre-requisites apply:
- Candidates must hold an in date (valid for the duration of the course) Weapon Handling Test (WHT) certificate on the: L98A2 Cadet GP Rifle; L72/L83/L132A1 Grenade Hand Smoke Screening; L35A1 Simulator Battle Sound (SBS); L10A1/A2 Flare Tripwire Kit. This must also be recorded within Qualifications on Westminster (Students who are
on Westminster indicating that their WHT is not current at 2 weeks prior to their course start date will be subject to rejection off the course).
Recommendations. This is a physically arduous and mentally demanding course. CFAVs will be expected to participate in up to ten Battle Exercises per day for two days and should arrive adequately prepared. Prior knowledge of JSP 101 Defence writing and EASPs/EAMs is an advantage.
Courses. In 2017/18 there will be 7 courses with places for 40 students on each course.
Application Procedure. Applications made by counties/contingents via Westminster. Closing dates on WESTMINSTER will be strictly adhered to (this is at least 8 weeks prior to the start of every course).
