Aim. To familiarise Cadet Commandants, Deputy Commandants and other senior officers with the organization, administration, management and training of the ACF at County and National level.
Qualification. NIL
Course Outline. The course is 6 days long and takes the form of a briefing on the wider aspects of the ACF with many outside speakers, and work in syndicates which is then presented to the rest of the course. It aims to consolidate previous knowledge and experience gained from a successful career in the ACF or from service with the Regular or Territorial Army, thus preparing the student for their new responsibilities particularly in the areas of cadet safety and duty of care. The course includes but is not confined to: values and standards, risk management, implementing the wider cadet experience, Officer recruiting, development, selection, appointing and succession, discipline, safeguarding and a formal dinner night.
Eligibility. This course is a mandatory course for Cadet Commandants and Deputy Cadet Commandants to attend within 1 year of appointment. It is also open to new CEOs on appointment.
Pre-Requisites. The following pre-requisites apply:
- Candidates must have previously attended the mandatory courses at CTC unless exempted by the Commandant of CTC due to previous Regular or Reserve service.
Recommendations. It is recommended that students complete the pre-course reading attached to the joining instructions prior to attending the course.
Courses. In 2016/17 there will be 1 course with places for 40 students.
Application Procedure. Applications must be loaded onto WESTMINSTER by Counties. Closing dates on WESTMINSTER will be strictly adhered to (this is at least 8 weeks prior to the start of every course).
