CTC Frimley Park Course Start Standards and Pre-requisites

Adult Leadership and Management Course (ALM)

Pre requisites:

  • Candidates must complete either Westminster Basic User or Introduction to Cadet Force Information Communication Technology prior to attending the ALM course. The latter of these courses can be found on the Defence Learning Environment. This must be recorded on Westminster no later than 2 weeks prior to the start of the course.  If this is not achieved your place will be re-allocated to a student on the reserve list.

Recommendations:

  • Have a working understanding of the formatting of an Administrative Instruction and MEL in accordance with JSP 101 Chapter 6.
  • Students are required to produce several documents electronically for their assessments. Therefore a sound understanding of Microsoft Office programmes (Word in particular) is essential as computer skills are not taught as part of the course. Students should be able to correctly format the following:
    • Margins
    • Paragraph numbering
    • Font
    • Indentations
    • Footnotes

 

Skill At Arms Instructors Course (SAAI)

Pre-requisites:

  • Candidates must hold an in date WHT for the L98A2 Cadet GP Rifle, valid for the duration of the course.
  • Take part in a county led SAAI pre-course as per the guidelines issued by Chief Instructor NCTC Frimley Park. As a minimum be taught rifle lessons 1-9 by a qualified skill at arms instructor (SAAI). 

 

 

Cadet Force SA (M) Course

Pre-requisites:

  • Candidates must hold an in date WHT (valid for the duration of the course) on the following: L98A2 Cadet GP Rifle; L72/L83/L132A1 Grenade Hand Smoke Screening; L35A1 Simulator Battle Sound (SBS).

Recommendations:

  • Physically fit and able to take part in up to 20 battle lessons over 2 days
  • Prior knowledge of JSP 101, EAMs and EASPs.
  • Be familiar with fieldcraft lessons as per Cadet Training Fieldcraft and Tactics
  • Students are required to produce several documents electronically for their assessments. Area Commanders Course

Pre-requisites:

  • Substantive Captain with promotion to Major likely in the next year

Recommendations:

  • Complete pre course reading with joining instructions

 

Commandants and Senior Officers

Pre-requisites:

  • Rank range – Major to Colonel.

Recommendations:

  • Complete pre course reading with joining instructions
  • Completed DDH training

 

CCF Basic Qualifying Course

Pre-requisites:

  • Candidates must hold an in date (valid for the duration of the course) WHT on the L98A2 cadet GP Rifle.
  • Have attended a pre-CCF Basic run by CTTs.
  • Formally taken part in L98A2 rifle lessons 1-9.
  • Have an understanding of basic drill movements, using a compass and an OS map.

Recommendations:

  • Familiarity with the cadet fieldcraft pamphlet and prepared for an overnight exercise.

 

Target Rifle Coaching Course

Recommendations:

  • Be familiar with the application of the 4 marksmanship principles
  • Have previous experience firing the target rifle on a range.

 

Master Cadet Course

Pre-requisites:

  • Candidates must be shown as having passed 4* complete and hold an in date (valid for the duration of the course) WHT on the L98A2 Cadet GP Rifle.
  • Completed 4* Fieldcraft
  • Over 16 years of age at the start of the course
  • No minimum rank

Recommendations:

  • A high level of physical fitness and must be robust enough to operate in a tactical harbour under arduous field conditions for 3 nights/ 4 days
  • Must be competent in APC fieldcraft
  • A good understanding of patrolling, recces, ambushes, hasty attacks and navigation
  • Familiar with section level orders
  • Confident in the role of section commander and 2IC

 

Champion Cadet Competition

Pre-requisites:

  • Candidates must hold an in date (valid for the duration of the competition) WHT on the BSA Scorpion rifle and L98A2 GP Rifle
  • Completed APC 3*
